"World Mission Sunday is a day set aside for Catholics worldwide to recommit themselves to the church's missionary activity through prayer and sacrifice."- Fr Matthias Ogwo
This Sunday Marks 'World Mission Sunday' and consequently the 2020 Catholic Mission Church Appeal. Parishioners of the Cathedral Parish of St Joseph will once again be asked exercise their fundamental duty of mission to those who are suffering in our world.
This year's appeal has prioritised the needy and downtrodden in Cambodia who are still suffering the ill-effects of civil unrest decades after large scale conflict ended.
Chen, who suffered severe injuries due to a landmine accident in his childhood years, is one of the faces of this year's Catholic Mission Appeal. Funds raised by the 2020 appeal will go to the Arrupe Centre, which specialises in giving Cambodian children with disabilities the support they need to live fulfilling lives.
With accidents such as Chen's continuing to happen all too frequently in Cambodia, Diocesan organisers of this year's Catholic Mission Appeal ask parishioners to give generously to ensure that the Arrupe Centre's mission will continue to positively impact the lives of many disabled children in Cambodia for years to come.
