Stewardship the Key to a More Active Church says Joe McCorley OAM

An exciting new initiative by the Regional Pastoral Council had Joe McCorley OAM arrive at the Cathedral Parish of St Joseph for a presentation on Stewardship.

On Monday 9th of November, approximately 50 parishioners attended the event which saw Joe share his experience in the area of stewardship and the development of active faith communities.

Joe has found that the process of generating more parishioners willing to partake in ministry requires a more deliberate approach than simply asking parishioners to fill a vacant position. Instead, parishioners are asked to complete a self-assessment which collates their responses and recommends ministries best suited to their talents. Parishioners can then use a separate tool to register their interest in ministries matching their spiritual gifts.

With ministry numbers gradually declining across the Diocese; fresh approaches such as this one may be the answer to seeing our Parish Communities flourish in a post-COVID world.
