After many months of limited opportunities for the young people of our Parish and region to experience their faith in a way personal to them, Saturday 26th of September marked an exciting return to action for our youth.
The annual Ignite conference held in Brisbane and Sydney is an enormous youth event that sees young people from around the national come together for music, prayer and spiritual development in a supportive and fun environment. Many young people were devastated this year to hear the 2020 Ignite Conference in Brisbane was understandably cancelled due to coronavirus. However, the organisers of Ignite, determined to still deliver a fulfilling faith experience for Australia's young Christians, moved online and created 'Ignite One Night'.
Youth from the Rockhampton region joined thousands of others from across the nation in watching Ignite One Night, with local youth ministers turning the event in an evening of fun and fellowship. Commencing the evening with activities and games, our youth then joined parishioners for the 6:00pm Vigil mass at the Cathedral. Parishioners were treated to fantastic music for the mass with the youth volunteering their musical talents to perform special hymns. After mass, the young people then enjoyed a meal and went across to TCC to begin their watch party of Ignite One Night.
Attendees thoroughly enjoyed their night and were pleased to once again gather together as a youth group to celebrate their faith.
